Back in the middle of February we took a family trip to Breckenridge. Let me just say it never gets old going there...I love it, especially in the winter when we can enjoy the beautiful snow. Jeff was in Florida for work the week before we left and it overlapped on the weekend we wanted to leave. The plan was for me to go to Breckenridge and Jeff would then meet us a few days later. So I didn't have to drive the LONG drive by myself with the boys, Jeff's dad drove with me and then flew back to Houston when we picked Jeff up in Denver.
My mom had the week off from work when we went so my parents also drove from California to meet us and stay for the week. I was so excited because I finally got my chance to go skiing for the FIRST TIME EVER while Gramma and Grampa watched the boys.
Our trip started off quite exciting...never a dull moment in our household. When we got there the driveway was covered in snow and it probably took us 30 minutes to get into the garage. Then Jeff's dad realized he brought the wrong set of keys and we had no way of getting in the house. I have a set of keys but left them in Waco not even thinking I would need them. We then waited probably another hour in the garage for a locksmith to come and let us in...good times! You better believe that we all now have many many sets of keys. Jeff's dad's realtor had a spare key for us and we made copies before we left. There are spare ones at the house, my parents have a copy, and I am pretty sure I have 5 keys now with the new copies made. :)
It was like Christmas all over again...my parents brought with them all of the toys the boys got in December but we couldn't fit in our suitcases or take on the plane. I barely had to bring anything from home to entertain them. They had their mini Cars books...
Little People Noah's Ark {Evan loved lining up all the animals}...
and the boys' absolute favorite...their Lightening McQueen cars.
Valentine's Day was the day that Jeff flew in so we had a quick breakfast and the boys got their fun Valentine's treats and then we left for Denver to pick Jeff up and drop his dad off.
Jeff skied by himself on the Wednesday after he got to Breckenridge and then I joined him on Thursday and Friday of our trip. The first day I took lessons and then the next day skied with Jeff. I fell more times than I can count on my hands but by the afternoon on Friday started to get the hang of it. It wasn't the epic failure I thought it would be and now can't wait to go back. I will most definitely take more lessons to help me get better.
And...while we were busy having fun skiing, the boys had a little fun too. My children, who kicked and screamed the day before, who ran from me and threw down on the ground all because they didn't want me to put on their ski clothes, never put up a fight with my parents while we were gone...oh the frustration. Evan hates jackets, hats, mittens, etc. and he just let my mom get him dressed. Don't they always act the worst for their Mamas?!?! I couldn't believe my parents got them to get dressed and go outside.
Ethan...most definitely our snow child.
My parents even taught him how to scoop the snow...something I'm sure he will not think is so fun in about 10 years.
I loved our trip and am hoping we can find time to go again sometime soon!
