Baby Update

We had our first ultrasound today and saw two sacs. Both had yolk sacs and one we could already see the heartbeat. It is still early and we were not expecting heartbeats today, so we should see the heartbeat in the other one next Monday. My doctor is a little concerned with the one we saw the heartbeat on. The gestational sac was compressed and not as large as the other one. So, for now we have twins but just have to watch the one our doctor is concerned about. Please keep our babies in your prayers, that they would both continue to grow and develop as they should.

And scatter brained me...my doctor said he would give me a picture of today's ultrasound before we left, and I completely forgot to get it. Just walked out the door without it...not that there was much to see this early, but still...I will definitely remember next week (posts are so boring without pics).

Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow

"Give thanks to the Lord, for HE IS GOOD. His love endures forever...To Him who ALONE DOES GREAT WONDERS, His love endures forever." Psalm 136: 1 & 4

Excited, shocked, nervous...you name it, we are probably feeling it right now. From "you may never get pregnant" to "congratulations, your test came back positive!" God has taken the impossible and made it happen. How blessed we are! Thank you to everyone for your sweet comments, phone calls, and emails. We are so blessed to be surrounded by family and friends who love us, support us, and pray for us.

On Friday we were so in shock, it was all I could do just to post a picture. It is all still somewhat of a blur, but I am going to try to get it all down before I forget the entire day completely...

Last Thursday I had pretty much given up all hope for this month. I wasn't feeling good at all and knew there was NO WAY possible that I was pregnant. I layed around the house, didn't eat much when Jeff and I went to lunch, and had an all out depressing pity party. I had planned on getting my blood work done here in Waco, but at the last minute we decided to go to Dallas instead...why lay around the house all day and wait for bad news? A new Nordstrom Rack opened and I wanted to also go to Northpark. If I wasn't pregnant I was at least going to enjoy the day and go shopping. No nervousness, waiting on pins and needles...I wasn't going to do it again.

So...we went to Dallas. I gave my blood, we ate at Boston Market (seriously, why is there not one in Waco) and went shopping. I got a new pair of shoes and almost tried to convince Jeff I needed a new pair of jeans...so glad I didn't waste any money :) We were on our way into Nordstrom when the phone rang. For the first time neither of us had the heart sinking feeling you get every time you get "the call." It was just a phone call I thought I already had the answer to.

When the doctor said hello, I knew right away something was different. You can always tell by the tone of their voice if it's going to be good or bad. He told me he finally had good news...which I then responded with "you are joking and I don't believe you." We went over my beta number, and the fact that it was so high it indicated possible multiples. I didn't cry (which my mom took care of for the both of us) but couldn't breathe and had to sit down for a few minutes. We sat on a little bench in the lobby of Nordstrom and called our parents (how fitting is it that I found out at my absolute favorite store, shoe department directly in front of me, piano music playing in the background...pregnant at Nordstrom...it doesn't get any better!).

Today I went for my second blood test to make sure my beta hcg number doubled. It is supposed to double every 48 hours. This just tells us that everything is progressing as it should. We started with 619 on Friday and today it was 1807...Praise Jesus, all is looking good! We will go for our first ultrasound next Monday to see how many we have and then on April 6 to see the heartbeat(s). My estimated due date is November 26 (Thanksgiving Day). It couldn't be more perfect that after all we have been through, I am due on Thanksgiving. It is a perfect reminder of God's goodness and faithfulness and how much we truly have to be thankful for. Please keep us in your prayers as we realize it's still early and we are trying to be cautiously excited.

Three In

Just a quick little update from Tuesday...everything went as expected. We thawed out our remaining four embryos and transferred three. According to our doctor the last little one didn't look good and would not have implanted. So, now we wait until next Friday and hope for a miracle...

Marathon of Posts

February was a crazy month...Jeff had the flu, I had some sort of sickness, we went to California for a week, and in between all of that we have been traveling back and forth to Dallas for all of our IVF stuff. The blog has taken a back seat...I had started many posts, but never got around to finishing and posting them. Finally today I sat down and made myself finish. So, for your reading pleasure you can scroll through or just click on the individual posts below...nothing much exciting, just what we have been up to the last month. Also...we have our next frozen embryo transfer on Tuesday at 1:00...can't believe we are already doing it all again...

Houston College Classic

My cousin, Sean, was in Houston last weekend for the Houston College Classic. He plays baseball for UC Irvine who was in the tournament along with Baylor, Houston, Rice, A&M, and UCLA. It is rare that we get to see him play so we were quite excited to load up the dogs and travel to Houston. Our weekend was filled with going to games and also eating some yummy food (it's always about the food)...Maggiano's, Irma's, and Amazon Grill.

The weekend of baseball fun took a different turn when Sean tore his ACL during Saturday's game against Houston. He was on crutches the rest of the weekend, missed Sunday's game AND he didn't get to travel with his team to Waco this weekend to play in a tournament at Baylor...so sad. Please keep him in your prayers for a quick recovery...his surgery is supposed to be at the end of March/beginning of April. We love you Sean, had so much fun last weekend and hope you are feeling better soon!

Fun at the Park

Cathy's nephews stayed with them last week and we spent a day at the park. I happened to still have my camera in my purse from California so I snapped a few pics from the day.

Hanging With the Grandparents

I love living in Texas...the food is better by a mile, the people are nicer, it's just a great place to live. Aside from the weather the only thing that I really miss about California is that I don't get to see my family on a regular basis. My grandparents came to visit last February and that was the last time we had seen them. The last time we saw my Grandma Love was over a year ago at Christmas. Like I've said before...they are all going to wake up one day and find that I have moved them to Waco.

At my grandparents house.

With my grandpa on the beach.

On the way home to San Diego we drove along the coast. We stopped at Wayfarers Chapel...a beautiful glass chapel overlooking the water. Had we gotten married in California this is where I would have wanted the wedding to be...so, so pretty. The picture does not do it justice.

The view from Wayfarers Chapel. The island in the background is Catalina island.

The Saturday before we came back to Texas we got to see my Grandma Love and go to lunch with her. She made Jeff some of her yummy pralines (one of his favorites) which was a great treat to have on the airplane flying home.

So that was our week long trip...lots of hanging out with eating, eating and more eating. It always goes by so fast. As soon as you get there it's time to turn around and come home. We loved seeing everyone and can't wait until Christmas when we get to go out to Cali again!

The Grove and Farmer's Market

While in L.A. we went to The Grove and Farmer's Market. It is such a cool place to go...the farmer's market had a ton of fruit and veggie stands, yummy places to eat, desserts galore, homemade ice cream...a definite place to visit if you are in L.A.

The best thing was that everyone got to eat where they wanted...my dad got pizza, Jeff and I had food from a cajun place (which was surprisingly good for California), and my mom and Aunt Joanie had soup.

Dad with his pizza...the normal picture taker on the other side of the lens for once.

Aunt Joanie and Jeff...loved the sweet potato chips Jeff got with his red beans and rice.

Mom and me...hello pasty white. Do you think it is too early to start tanning??

The Grove...I wish all malls could be this cool...of course the perfect California weather made the experience all the better. Everything about it was awesome...the fountain in the center, the trolley running down the middle, Frank Sinatra and Michale Buble playing for all to hear...the perfect shopping expereince.
