My Kitchen

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner shared pictures of her favorite room and invited people to join in on the fun. I decided this would be a fun non-dog related post for those of you who are sick of hearing about our dogs.

My favorite room by far is my kitchen. Jeff's response is "why...you never cook." Although it is true that Chick-Fil-A probably cooks more for us than I do, I still LOVE my kitchen, have tons of cookbooks, and like cooking (the food network is one of my favorite channels). It's all the cleaning up I am not too fond of that keeps me away from cooking all the time. Anywho...on to the kitchen...

I spent a lot of time planning this kitchen during the building process. I love the layout, all of my cabinet space, and my deep sink. We've been in our house for a year and I'm still working on decorating. I haven't put anything above my cabinets yet.

The breakfast area...which we NEVER eat in (it will change when we have kids). The table is what I planned my whole kitchen around. It is brown, similar to the color of the cabinets, and the chairs are black, which is why I wanted the black hood and island.

My curtains, which I still need to hang. My friend and I spent two weekends making them a few years ago and I had them hanging in our house in Houston. LOVE them and am making it my summer project to hang them.

The hutch in my breakfast area...more great storage space. I also have displayed one of my china plates, one of mom's, and one of my grandma's.

The hood with my pot filler...because I'm too lazy to turn around and fill up my pots in the sink.

LOVE my granite. It has just enough of the brown and black to match my cabinets perfectly. I also wanted something that I knew not everyone was going to have in their house.

One of the things I like most about my kitchen is how open it is to the rest of the house. I love that I can be in the kitchen and still see everything going on in the family room. Even though I don't cook that often it is amazing how much time is still spent in this room.

In this season of your life- its okay for cooking to be frequent! I remember the days when I didnt have kids and I didnt have to cook much! A thing of the past! Enjoy it while you can!
