Happy Halloween from our little pirates!
A Pumpkin Snack
Because we are completely and totally obsessed with pumpkins I thought it would be fun to have a little pumpkin snack after school one day. I love holidays and making them special and fun. I love seeing things through the boys' eyes and seeing how excited they get over little things like plates, cups, and decorated cookies. I never met a holiday plate that I didn't like and LOVE that Target (most wonderful place on earth) has stuff for every holiday! This year I stocked up on lots of fun stuff...love the swirly straw cup...and we have been putting it all to great use. After school snacks are way better when you have super cool stuff to eat off of...
Stuffing his little face full with pumpkin cookies...
...and licking the plate, because it would be crazy if we left any crumbs!
Love this sweet face.
I think he looks so much like Jeff here.
And we're eating a shoelace because clearly I don't feed them enough!
I Heart Fall
It's no surprise if you know me that I adore fall. I love the pumpkins, cooler weather, football on tv, soup for dinner, pumpkin flavored everything...lattes, bread, pie, cookies. September through December...best time of the year! I might decorate early for Halloween around here, start listening to Christmas music in July, and if I could, would decorate for Christmas on November 1st. Texas has some bipolar weather and it's really never as cool as I would want it to be. I celebrate the cold fronts and love getting out my coats, scarves, leggings and boots. My favorite part of fall though...my two littles in their long sleeves and jeans. So adorable...we're enjoying the few days of 60's this weekend before jumping back up to 80 next weekend. Happy fall y'all!
This kid kills me... "no pictures" is his favorite phrase right now. I have to be very creative and VERY QUICK to get a few of him. For the few good ones I have there are probably 100 more horrible ones...oh the frustration for a mama who lives with the camera around her neck! Just wait till grampa moves here and there are two people constantly taking pictures...oh the fun!
Party Pumpkin Time
We took the boys to our friends the Cooneys annual pumpkin party again this year. It was a perfect, sunny, cool day to hang with friends, enjoy good food, and decorate a few pumpkins. The boys were super fast at picking out pumpkins and this the only shot I got of them in the patch. Boys on a mission...they new what they were after and got it done!
We took the little pumpkins back to the tables and decorated them with puffy paint, stickers, googley eyes, etc. to make them as cute as could be.
Our finished pumpkin people, who actually look more like girls than boys with the eyelash eyes.
The real fun of the party were the bounce houses and balls...pure entertainment for hours.
With our friends Cambell and Grayer Cook...love these kiddos!
Our traditional "No pictures mommy" picture...but this time I caught him before his hand was in front of his face.
It was already a cool day but as soon as the sun started to go down it got even colder pretty fast. The camp fire is where we hung out towards the end of the party...warming our hands and making 'smores.
A little game of croquet before leaving...
And a little family shot (sans Evan, who you can't see flailing around on the ground next to me because he didn't want to be in the picture). Ethan didn't want to be in the picture either but he at least sat in Jeff's lap, giving us the "oh-so-thrilled" face.
You know it was a fun day when both boys fall asleep almost immediately on the drive home. It was such a great party and I'm already looking forward to next year!
Disneyland Day Two
We were up before the sun for day two of our trip to Disneyland. All the boys could talk about was going back to see Mickey Mouse and ride on the Peter Pan ride (the last ride of the night from day one and by far the boys' favorite). When we got there the lines for Snow White and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride were really short so we went on those two first thing to get them out of the way...BIG MISTAKE! I don't remember them being really dark and kind of scary, but they were. I wasn't too thrilled about them so I can only imagine what it was like for Ethan and Evan. It totally ruined the rest of Evan's ride experience...all day long he repeated "I not ride this ride" or "I not go on this one" while we waited in line. I felt so bad for him but also didn't want him to miss out on the other fun rides. In the pic below you can see the difference between my two children...Ethan pointing to Dumbo the Elephant and Evan thinking "do I really have to do this."
Evan tends to do better and freaks out less when I'm not around so the boys rode Dumbo with Jeff while I waited with the rest of the crew. He, of course, cried while getting on and waiting for it to start but then was fine once they got going.
And then there was Ethan...hands up and loving every minute of it.
On the Jungle Cruise, much more Evan's speed. The boys love animals so this was a perfect ride for them.
After the jungle cruise we took the boys on Pirates of the Caribbean...my favorite ride growing up. I was a little worried about Evan with the hills and it being darker inside but he liked it. The ride wouldn't have been complete without getting some pirate swords so we could be pirates at home. We could have left after getting the swords and the boys would have been happy.
My cousin Kelly with Ethan.
We debated taking the boys on the Haunted Mansion but my cousin and aunt had ridden it before we got to Disneyland and told us it way less scary. From October through Christmas it is decorated from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas. There were pumpkins, presents, jack-o-lanters, etc. everywhere. It was pretty cool and I think I may actually like it more all decorated than just normal. The boys thought it was so funny to see a bunch of jack-o-lanterns singing songs.
Ethan, Mr. Adventure, riding a roller coaster in Toon Town.
Pretending to drive the Toon Town cars. Ethan at one point looked over at Evan and said "c'mon, lets drive to Taco Tuesday like mama." Think we go to Rosa's a little too often?!?!
Riding the Rockets...even with his eyes closed because of the sun his hands were still up!
Waiting in line for Peter Pan one last time.
After dinner and watching the Main Street Parade, we finished off our trip by going back over to Cars Land to see it all lit up at night. It is definitely much cooler to see at night time.
Saying goodbye to Lightning McQueen.
Our tired boys ready to go home and get some sleep.
So long Disneyland, we had so much fun!
