One of the books we have been reading a lot recently is Gingerbread Baby. It's one of my favorites...loved reading it when I taught kindergarten and now I love reading it with the E's. Since they also love to read it I thought we would have a fun day today making our own gingerbread babies.
We measured, poured, and mixed everything together to make our gingerbread dough...
...which was lots of fun until the boys discovered all of the other spice bottles in the little cabinet next to us. Stacking the bottles as high as possible...way more exciting.
When I say we had a fun day making these gingerbread babies, it really was a day project. Once the cookie dough was all mixed and ready, we had to wait a couple of hours for it to get cold in the refrigerator, making it easier to roll out and cut into cookies.
So...after we ate our lunch and ran a few errands around town we finally got down to business. They were so excited to make their cookies.
Such a mess but having so much fun.
Evan, waiting so patiently...but also happy he wasn't getting messy.
Ethan was so mad he had to let Evan have a turn, because according to him it's always his turn.
After a lot fun and a lot of mess, the little gingerbread babies were ready to go in the oven. The E's watched and waited patiently for them to be done and ready to eat.
To make those LONG 10 minutes go a little faster we might have snacked on a few M&M's {or B-O-M's as Ethan calls them}.
FINALLY...eating our cookies.
Love this one of Evan.
When I told him I got a good picture, this was his reaction. NOOOOO Mommy!
We had such a fun day making these little guys...a lot of mess but definitely a lot of fun!
Mr. Sneaky Sneaky decided he needed a few more "B-O-M's" while I was cleaning everything up and he was all done with his cookie.
Look at that face! He was so proud of himself. Little dude is trouble with a capital T.
