Extreme Yard Makeover

Yardwork was our all day Saturday event. We had been joking recently that our yard was the worst in the neighborhood and it needed a lot of help. I didn't realize how much until we actually started. Jeff mowed the lawn and pulled weeds, while I worked on my roses. I so wish I had a "before" picture of my knockout roses. They were crazy! We planted them when we moved in last year and they grew like weeds. By the fall they were towering above my crepe myrtle (hard to believe, but true) and were covering up the other plants.

Being the lazy person I am, I didn't trim them earlier this year. I was a little sad because they were blooming like crazy. As you can see they don't look that pretty anymore, but at least you can see that we do have other plants in the flower beds. To make things extra exciting, I decided to trim the roses without gloves (really I couldn't find them). I made it to the end of the day with lots of cuts and scratches. Not so fun and am so glad it is over. It so much more clean and pretty...and you can actually see our garage.
