Houston Rodeo

We went to the Houston Rodeo over a month ago and had a blast. Jeff's dad can always get us pretty good seats, so we usually pick our favorite singer to go see. I enjoy most of it, except for being allergic to all of the animals and everything that goes along with them. By the time we reach concert time, my nose is stuffed up and runny (didn't know it was possible to be both at the same time) and my chest is tight, making it hard to breathe. I have had better luck being closer to the ground level, because all of the dust rises.

Allergies and all, I still love the rodeo. I had never been to one until moving to Texas and meeting Jeff. In fact, the very first time I visited Houston and met most of Jeff's family was during rodeo time. One month into dating, I went home with him to see John Michael Montgomery in concert. Since then we have seen Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn, Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Rascal Flatts, Clay Walker (my favorite), and Brad Paisley.

The Calf Scramble...My favorite thing to see. We always root for the calves!

Brad Paisley...Pretty good, but a little too twangy for me. I like a couple of his songs, but seriously who sings a song about ticks?

Besides the rodeo and concert, our other favorite thing to do is eat the fair food. We usually don't eat anything until we get to the rodeo and then eat the whole time we are there. Some of our favorites...roasted corn, tamales, chicken on a stick, sausage on a stick, funnel cake, and cotton candy. This year we also had nachos and something called the "Texas Burrito" with potatoes and onions, bacon, cheese, and brisket...it was amazing. By the end of the night we pretty much have to be rolled to our car from eating so much yummy food.

My favorite part of this year's rodeo...the miniature cows. So, so cute. I wanted to take one home with me.
