Remember When

Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookn' back it's just a steppin stone
To where we are
Where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

Remember when we said when we turn gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

I love Alan Jackson's song Remember When. It reminds me of why I scrapbook and why I wanted to start a blog. There have been so many times when Jeff or I have said "remember when we first met," "remember our first date," "remember how great our wedding was." Hopefully writing this blog will help us not forget the big events and even the little things that happen in our lives...and when we are 80 years old, sitting in the rocking chairs on our front porch, we can look back at our life's blogs and remember when.

Since this is my first blog I thought I would post a few pics of the family (even though everyone reading this probably already knows who we are).

Jeff and I met during the last semester of our senior year at Baylor (Go Bears!). We spent the first year of our marraige in Waco while Jeff was finishing law school and then moved to Houston (his hometown) after his graduation. We just moved back to Waco two years ago and are so happy we made the move. One of the great things about living here is that we get to go to all of the Baylor football, basketball and baseball games! This Saturday is our 6th anniversary. Time goes by so fast...it's hard to believe we've been together for 81/2 years and married for 6.

Our babies...Brinkley and Diego.

We got Brinkley (named after the dog from You've Got Mail) four years ago when we were an hour early to my niece's birthday party. We decided to stop at Petco to kill some time and a rescue organization was set up inside for pet adoptions. Two hours later, and an hour late to the party, we had Brinkley. He is part Beagle and part Golden Retriever. To me he looks like a small golden with short hair. He does have a belly like a Beagle and also the howl. He adores Jeff and his blankie (which he carries with him wherever he goes).

We got Diego (named for my hometown of San Diego) from the same organization exactly one year later. This time we went to my niece's birthday party first. Everyone was joking that we didn't show up with a dog...little did we know what was in store! We went to Petco after the party to get Brinkley some Valentine's Day presents. Instead we got Diego. I guess you could say we got a pet for our pet! We have no clue what kind of dog Diego is. He is long like a Dachshund and I have seen an Australian Shepherd that looks just like him. Diego adores Brinkley and copies everything he does.
