We took the boys to Dallas to have their pictures taken. I couldn't find anyone here in Waco I was in love with...did lots of research (including a spreadsheet of comparisons for Jeff to look at), and had my dad look at all of the websites to give his "photographer opinion." We finally decided on Teresa Berg Photography. I love her pictures, she was super nice on the phone, her prices were reasonable AND she takes pictures of dogs...how could you not love a person who takes dog pics?? Our picture time was 4:00. It gave Jeff time to go to work for a while and I figured since the boys are great at sleeping in the car we wouldn't get too off schedule...the plan was to be well rested and to feed them right before so they were happy...NOT EXACTLY HOW THE DAY WENT...
Our car was also due for its 5000 mile free maintenance check. Since we don't have a dealership here in town it meant having to go to Dallas at some point. Who knows when we would have been back in Dallas so at the time it seemed like a good idea to get it done last Friday. The boys did travel great, as I knew they would...slept the whole way there without a sound. They were great while we waited at the dealership, super smiley and happy. The center of attention to all who were waiting...and let me tell you, news travels fast when people hear there are twins in the waiting area. I'm wondering when we become less of a circus side show and fascination to everyone? We were able to feed the boys, eat lunch ourselves, watch US hockey on t.v. and enjoy the free-flowin' Dr. Pepper from the soda fountain...all in all not a bad experience, it was just after that was not much fun.
The boys didn't sleep much at the dealership, way too much going on. We fed them once we got to the photography studio and they were happy for a short while. We did their pictures with just diapers on (which is enough to make them mad) and had a little heater on to keep the room warm. I see the reason for doing pictures with newborns...they are much more cooperative than 3 1/2 month olds. We were there for two hours and it seemed like mostly a disaster. They took turns screaming their heads off...it will be a miracle if we come away with any good pictures. Teresa said all parents walk away thinking that, so we'll see if she's right or if we are the first ones to prove her wrong. To top it all off, when we were getting the boys changed and ready to go Ethan peed all over Jeff. His jeans were soaking wet...I always think to bring many extra sets of clothes for the boys, it's just not something I think of for ourselves.
We did get to enjoy a yummy dinner afterwards though, which made the day seem less of a total disaster. We met my friend Kim and her husband Jay at bj's...SOOO good, the menu is seriously 10 pages long...made it hard to decide what to get. The best part was the fantabulous Pizookie we had for dessert. Oh my heavens I could eat one for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday...yummy doesn't even begin to describe how good it was.
So, that was our crazy Friday. We got home around 11:30 that night and turned around the next morning and drove to Houston at 8:30. The last time we had been to Houston was back in August, so we were long overdue for a trip to see the family. Here are the boys below in the car while Jeff was getting gas...right before their 3 hour nap. Like I have said before, I am so glad the boys travel well. We could not have gone everywhere this weekend if they didn't. Ethan cried a little towards the end but it was close to eating time when we got to Houston.

Ethan...never without his paci.

The boys with their "godfather" Yasser.
We first went to see our friends Yasser and Whitney and went to lunch with them. The last time we saw them was at our shower in Waco back in October when I was 32 weeks and miserably huge. I'm sure I was much more enjoyable to be around this trip. We love getting to see them which is not that often. Yasser and Jeff worked together at Haynes and Boone and I can easily say that he saw Jeff more than I did when we lived in Houston.
The rest of the afternoon and evening we spent at Mammaw and Pappaw's. It was much more relaxing of a day than Friday because we got to sit around and hang out. The only issue was the boys didn't sleep that great in the afternoon. Eating times stayed mostly the same but when we don't get our sleep boy are we cranky.

My view...is he not just perfectly precious?
We got home super late Saturday night and then had to be at church early the next morning. We are doing the boys' baby dedication at church on March 21 and had to take a class for it at 9:00. Church is at 10:30 so our schedule was thrown off a little yet again. It's terrible to admit, but had we not had to be at the class we might have just stayed home. I was exhausted by Sunday morning. Evan was pretty good and stayed with us in the class but Ethan was a little cranky so he went to the nursery...which we hadn't done yet. I have kept them out and just with us in big church during flu season. My goal was to put them in starting at 4 months...cranky pants just made it there one week earlier than his brother. We took them both to big church which Jeff and Evan stayed for while I rocked Ethan for the ENTIRE hour while he cried...poor baby, we should have just gone home.
Here we are in our jammies finally at home on Sunday afternoon...so cute just checking each other out. We are finally getting back to our normal schedule. With all of the craziness you would think I would never want to travel again...I think next time we just won't try to put it all in one weekend!
