Turning Two {Part One}

With the boys' birthday last week, family in town, trying to get ready for a party and sorting through hundreds of pictures it has taken me forever to get around to posting about all we did on the E's birthday.  I'm still working on a bunch of pictures and since there are a ton I'm dividing them into two posts...before nap and after nap.

I LOVE birthdays and think that the day should be as special as possible...I remember being so excited when I was a kid to wake up on my birthday and see my birthday banner and balloons hanging and I want Ethan and Evan to be feel the same excitement every year on their special day.  I may actually be just as excited as a mom to celebrate birthdays...it was so fun getting things ready and planning for their day...LOVE celebrating my boys!

We started the morning waking the boys up with balloons all over the floor in their room.  I could hear Ethan before I went up to their room saying "oooo boons."  They were so excited and played and played with them for quite a while...throwing them, kicking them, and watching them float in the air.

After the balloons the boys got to open one of their presents to start the day...a cool Lightening McQueen and fun Mater t-shirt.

Once we were all dressed and ready to go we stopped to pick up Jeff from work and headed to Shipley's for some chocolate sprinkled birthday donuts and chocolate milk.  Ethan and Evan LOVE donuts and might just love chocolate milk even more.  Little dudes inhaled it so fast that mama had to go back for seconds.

Chocolate covered sprinkle face...could life get any better?!?!

After we were all full and happy from eating yummy donuts we spent the morning playing at the Mayborn Museum.  I had wanted to take the boys to the zoo but it was just too cold and windy...which was fine because they love the Mayborn.  We love the choo choos, the animals, bubbles, running on the life size piano, driving the cars...it wasn't very crowded and we had a blast hanging out as a fam.

By the time we were done playing it was getting close to lunch so we headed to Chick-Fil-A for our next round of birthday celebrating.

All grown up drinking out of big people cups...

It wouldn't be lunch without our friends McQueen and Mater!

Before heading home to take a nap we stopped by Toys R Us to let the boys pick out a few things with some of their birthday money...they got some tractors, ABC stuff and of course a few Cars toys.

Balloons, Donuts, The Mayborn, Chick-Fil-A, and Toys R Us...overall I'm thinking it was a pretty awesome morning celebrating the E's turning two.  Still to come...dinner, presents and cake!
