Making Cookies

Every so often I get the urge to bake.  It mostly happens during the fall months when the temperatures start to get a tad bit cooler...you know, when it's 95 instead of 100 degrees. My usual go to baking items usually come from the pumpkin family...I LOVE pretty much anything pumpkin.

The boys wanted to help me this week, so instead of doing pumpkin we did iced sugar cookie bars as a treat for them. They had fun helping me measure, pour and stir everything together and LOVED taking turns turning on the mixer.

Don't let this mad face fool you...he was having fun. Definitely not a cooperative picture taker!

And then came the distraction of playing in the sink...I totally lost them.  Water is SOOO much more fun than helping mama bake!

Eating...we're ALWAYS ready to taste Mama's baking when it involves cookies!

And...here is the only colored picture from this post.  The cookies were really good but in my opinion looked totally disgusting.  I let the boys pick what color to make the icing.  They chose green and no matter how many drops of food coloring I put in they looked this gross pastel color.  Yucky...but the boys still loved them and that's all that matters!  Next on the agenda...definitely back to pumpkin!  Now if only the fall weather would come our way to join my fall baking I would be very happy!
