Jeff and I just got back from an amazing trip to Breckenridge...and to say that it was awesome, restful, relaxing, etc. would be a HUGE understatement. Our 10th anniversary is in a couple of weeks and we decided to get away for a few days sans kids to celebrate. We had talked about going somewhere tropical...Hawaii, Mexico, etc. but in the end decided on Breckenridge. All I wanted was to go somewhere where I could relax and sleep in...where we could just hang out and not be on any schedule, and Breckenridge was PERFECT! The weather was amazing...upper 60's in the day and 40's/50's at night. Everyday I woke up thinking it should have been the fall. It was such a nice break from all of the 100 degree days we have been enjoying! :)
My parents and aunt came from California on the 7th to watch Ethan and Evan and we headed out on Saturday the 9th. Jeff and I had been away from the boys overnight on different occasions but never with the two of us at the same time...I was a tad bit sad to leave them but knew they would be great {which they were}...and who wouldn't be with the grandparents and aunt hanging with them, playing with them, and spoiling them...I'm sure they barely knew we were ever gone.
We stayed at Jeff's dad's house and enjoyed our days sleeping in, eating, walking around town, eating, shopping, eating, going to the movies, and eating. Ok, so we didn't eat the entire time but most of the pictures I have are from the oh so yummy restaurants we went to. I did LOVE that meal time on vacation meant actually ordering something I wanted and not what I thought the boys could share with me and having conversations with Jeff that were not interrupted every 2 seconds.
{river behind the house...the water is super high right now from all of the melting snow and tons of rain}
I loved getting to walk around town and see where everything was...shops, restaurants, etc. Even though I had already been there for the first time back in March it was kind of hard to see everything with all of the snow and carrying two kiddos around. This trip felt more like my first time getting to walk around town. I now know where to go for cookies and cupcakes, have a lot of my favorite restaurants in my head for when we go back, and know exactly where to go to get our yearly Christmas ornaments. The town is one of the cutest towns I have ever seen with all of the shops and restaurants in old little houses...all towns should be like Breckenridge in my opinion. My absolute favorite part about Breckenridge {besides all of the yummy food, cute stores, and great weather} are all of the DOGS. It is one of the most dog friendly towns ever...people were walking them all over town...I would love to take our four someday if only the drive wasn't so long.
{at dinner on our last night}
It was such a great trip. Even though I missed the boys so much I loved getting away and spending some relaxing time with Jeff. We are going back again at Thanksgiving and for a week in February with my family and I'm already excited to go back. Breckenridge is very quickly becoming one of my favorite places to visit.
